2009 - James Polk presidential dollar P uncirculated

Presidential dollars were designed to commemorate the US presidents that have led this great country. The United States Mint started this set back in 2007 and are scheduled to release these presidential dollars for years to come. What better way to illustrate the history of the US than to collect these wonderful dollars. Presidential dollars are minted from philadelphia (P), denver (D) and even San Fransisco (S). You can but these coins either uncirculated singles, uncirculated rolls, US mint sets and even us proof sets. Great way to start our next generation of coin collectors by having them make the set of these presidential dollars. The James K. Polk Dollar will be released third in 2009's line up of the ongoing Presidential Dollar series. This coin will mark the eleventh release in the series overall. The release date for the coin is currently scheduled for August 20, 2009. The obverse of the coin will feature a portrait of former President Polk. The obverse was designed by Susan Gamble and sculpted by Charles Vickers. The inscriptions include "James K. Polk," "In God We Trust," "11th President," and the years of his Presidential term "1845-1849." The reverse of the coin will continue to feature the Statue of Liberty rendition as designed and sculpted by Don Everhart. This design representative of the concept of Liberty has been used throughout the series. As a change from prior years, the placement of the “In God We Trust” motto will be moved to the obverse of the coin. The other famous motto “E Pluribus Unum,” the date, and mint mark will continue to appear on the edge lettering of the coin.
